How does OWLearners Tutoring Work?

Standard Lessons

At OWLearners, we prioritise flexibility in our lessons to meet each student’s unique needs. Our tutors visit your home, providing a comfortable and personalised learning environment without the noisy distractions often found in libraries or tutoring centers. During sessions, students are encouraged to seek assistance with homework, assignments, or any specific academic challenges. If a student doesn’t have particular work to focus on that week, our tutors can also utilise OWLearners resources to recap work they're covering at school. This approach ensures that every session is tailored to effectively support the student’s learning journey. In particular, we have found that these lessons are particularly effective for high school students, as they require greater flexibility to accommodate their diverse needs and changing timetables. Once-off Lessons

Does your child need a quick boost to tackle a challenging assignment or prepare for an upcoming exam? Our one-off lessons are designed to meet their immediate needs, offering expert, focused support in a single session. Whether it’s mastering difficult concepts, refining writing, or sharpening problem-solving skills, our tutors are here to help. Please note that one-off sessions are subject to tutor availability, and you can find pricing details on our pricing page. These sessions are limited to a maximum of three per term for the same child; beyond this, we recommend our termly tuition for consistent support. Since these lessons are intended for last-minute help, no additional materials are provided—the tutor works directly with your child on their specific assignment or exam preparation. Offered to High School students only. 

Programs

• Selective School Program - weekly 2 hour lesson @ $165.00 

OWLearners is pleased to offer a comprehensive Selective School Program for students, conducted through a weekly two-hour lesson with their dedicated tutor. This structured program is designed to rigorously test all four areas of the exam in each session, ensuring that students are well-prepared. The duration of the two-hour lesson reflects the necessity for students to develop both mental and physical stamina, as the selective school exams are administered over the course of a single day from 9 am to 1 pm. Our program aims to equip students with the skills and resilience needed to excel in this demanding assessment environment.

• OC Test Program - weekly 1.5 hour lesson @ $130.00 

At OWLearners, we understand how important the OC Test is for your child’s future, which is why we are excited to offer a tailored OC Test Program. Each week, your child will participate in engaging 1.5-hour lessons with their tutor who will guide them through our carefully structured program. These sessions are designed to cover all essential content, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the test. We recognise the significance of building focus and endurance, so our programme aims to help your child develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed. Together, we’ll support your child on their journey to excel in this important examination.

• NAPLAN Test Programs - weekly 1.5 hour lesson @ $130.00 

At OWLearners, we are committed to helping your child succeed in the NAPLAN assessments. Our NAPLAN Program runs for 1.5 hours and is divided into two tailored offerings: one for Year 3-4 students and a more advanced programme for Year 5-6 students. This structure is designed to reflect the NAPLAN testing approach, where (for example) the Year 5 exam includes content from Year 4, Year 5, and Year 6 to assess students’ performance in relation to their year level. By offering programmes based on a range of years rather than solely targeting one grade at a time, we can better identify those who are below, at, or above their expected level. Our structured program includes weekly assignments and activities to be completed with the tutor, that reinforce learning, ensuring students are consistently building on their skills and readiness for the exams.
